The greatly anticipated reopening of Hurricane’s Grill at Gateway Circular Quay is set for 25 September 2025, bringing a fresh new fitout and elevated dining experience to Sydney. The updated space offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, just moments from Circular Quay station and ferry terminal. Guests can expect the same high standards of service and quality that have defined Hurricane’s for decades.
The menu continues to showcase Hurricane’s signature flame-grilled meats, including its renowned ribs and steaks, basted in the original sauce that has become a cult favourite. Premium ingredients are at the heart of every dish, with a focus on freshness, flavour, and consistency. Alongside the classics, the menu features a selection of seafood, burgers, and vegetarian options, catering to a wide range of tastes and dining occasions.
Hurricane’s Grill was founded in 1992 by Craig, who moved to Australia with a dream of introducing the rich and diverse flavours of his South African heritage to the local culinary scene. Drawing on South African, Portuguese, and Australian cooking styles, Craig created a unique dining experience centred around bold flavour and flame-grilled excellence. The signature basting sauce, developed by Craig’s father Aubrey, remains a cornerstone of the restaurant’s identity.
With its reopening at Gateway, Hurricane’s Grill looks forward to welcoming guests back to a space where great food and memorable moments come together. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a special celebration, the team is proud to continue serving the dishes that have made Hurricane’s a favourite among Sydney diners for over two decades.
